Jaidy Alcala and her friend in rural Edinburg were killed in a tragic accident when they lost control of an ATV while riding near Lake Edinburg. The girls were partially underwater, and two other girls managed to escape. The girls were rescued by deputies who found the UTV in the canal, two to three feet deep.

The deputies performed CPR on the girls, but they were rushed to a medical facility by ambulance, but it was too late. The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. in the 6400 block of Rio Grande Care.
