No, I am not the autism troll but it is patently clear to anyone who has had a relationship with an Aspie that BK has it. My former boyfriend was (and is) an academic who is completely consumed by his area of study AKA ‘special interest’. BK has all the physical traits of Aspergers - the staring, the bug eyed gaze, etc. Not to mention an inability to connect with others.
He looks like Adam Lanza. Obviously not all people with Aspergers are homicidal but this one definitely is.

Is it Asperger's or antisocial personality disorder? I don't know why everyone wants people to be autistic. A lot of neurological, mood and personality disorders show similar symptoms. That's why diagnosis is controversial and everyone wants to label people with everything.

Or, here's a novel idea, it's garden variety psychopathy which is a component of APD and common with these cases.
Just a thought.
Here. Knock yourself out, OP:

There's this weird obsession with making autistic people these extraordinarily humans who can use their superpower for great good or evil. It's really annoying and dishonest. The reality is they are no different than most people in that most of them are average and having the autism diagnosis makes them struggle far more than those without. Most have intellectual, motor or communication disabilities too.
Now a psychopathic person with obsessive compulsive tendencies, antisocial personality and poor impulse control. I can see how on the surface that can resemble autism but it's really not the same thing. Most autistic people lack much interest in socializing or controlling others. Antisocial personalities are often sadistic and defiant, they see other human beings as tools. Most autistic people just rather be alone doing their hobbies.

A Bryan Kohberger was also identified online as a psychology student in 2018 at Northampton Community College in Albrightsville, where he participated in “raising awareness of hidden disability” and was a part of Psi Beta.
Aspergers is considered a hidden disability. It *will* come out during the trial.

MY anecdotal experience permits ME to diagnose the Idaho Killer. Who has not been tried yet and therefore is still a suspect and not "THE killer" (although I know better) and whose reported personality and behavioral changes do not fit with my needy and irrelevant opinion, which of course is what matters most here. So acknowledge my pain first, agree that intellectuals must be crazy and weird, and try not to notice that I am the kind of person who dates someone who no sane person would consider, but I'm fat so naturally I chased him.
And please note that I do not have enough education myself to know that "high functioning" suggests he also has an substance use problem, and do not know the phrase requires a hyphen to remove unacceptable ambiguity in my diagnostic sharing.

Simply done with autistic men being given passes or made out to be something extraordinary. Awkward, lacking boundaries, rage filled "aspie" men are all over this country. Check an incel forum, they're there too. I don't alter my opinions on their actions based on this high functioning autism diagnosis.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 7, 2023 12:22 AM |
OP seems to want to demonize those with autism and I love they have to include "I'm not the troll." There's no evidence this murderer even has autism. Being a misanthropic sadistic sociopath has nothing to do with autism. I'm sick of everyone getting called autistic or borderline or a sex abuse victim like it's sexy. Fucked up people exist for many reasons but unless we have an official diagnosis, we can only speculate not put labels.

I knew Bryan in Intermediate School
I knew Bryan at Pleasant Valley Intermediate School. He was overweight when we were short term friends. He was bullied a lot and socially awkward. He also had anger issues. I definitely got the impression that he is potentially on the Autism spectrum (I am an Aspie myself so I know it when I see it). Our friendship ended after he got in a physical fight with me. He lost weight going into high school (had to be close to 100 lbs of weight loss), hence why he looks older. He frequented a boxing gym during his weight loss. Friends from high school say he became more aggressive after losing weight. He had trouble making friends when we were were acquainted. Iirc, his mom is/was a school staff member. She was VERY sweet. I really hope she's innocent in all this as she was very nice to me and many other PV students. Feel free to ask me any questions, but I don't know much beyond this. Edit: I did want to add that he did exhibit symptoms of bipolar disorder, so keep an eye out it anything comes out about that. I am very certain he has some sort of mental illness.

Just about everyone in my workplace between the ages of 25 - 45 identify themselves as 'an Aspie' or 'autistic'. Not only themselves, but their spouses and their children. Everyone of them - and they share stories at the workplace.
I'm also on the hiring committe for my department, and when we do interviews for candidates, the question "Tell us something about yourself that we don't know from your resume ?" always comes into play. Nine out of ten times, if the applicant is under 45, the answer will proudly be "I'm an Aspie". To which everyone 45 and under around the table doing the interview responds, "So am I !" So the candidate now has 'a connection' and doesn't feel 'different'...and of course gets hired whether they are best qualified or not (usually 'not'). All Aspies have to stick together, I guess.

I think people use autism as an excuse. Just like they use anxiety and bipolar. An excuse for being defeatist, self-indulgent, unmotivated and rude. Always going to their diagnosis to justify bad behavior. Regardless, people don't care for you if you don't make efforts to be a decent person regardless of a disability. If you are high functioning, there is not much of an excuse due to understanding right from wrong. They were diagnosing everyone so liberally in the 90s and 2000s.

How?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 10, 2023 8:11 PM |
R25 How? You want to infantilize every adult? You think everyone who has a disability is an overgrown child who doesn't know right from wrong? I know people with these conditions who have worked hard to live a life of normalcy and made steps to improvement through effort. It's not easy but life isn't. The point of raising awareness is so people learn that neurodivergency and disabilities are people just like them and many don't want to be treated any different. They can absolutely be spoiled brats, lazy bums, intentionally rude and entitled too. Once you meet many, you can tell the difference. American culture is all about avoiding responsibility and blaming others. So it's everyone.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 10, 2023 8:23 PM |
There are other disorders that could cause similar behavior and social affect. Somebody with Alexithymia + OCD could seem autistic. Autism isn't the only thing that explains socially bizarre people. You're just speculating, you must be the guy who comes into every thread to remind us all that the autistic are monsters and you've had enough with their excuses. Are you dealing with something in your family? Is something going on? What is going on with you that you're so so fixated on this, you must be slighted by autistic people on a daily basis.

by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 10, 2023 10:11 PM |
R31 If they are intellectually disabled then yes, I would not hold them accountable. But if they are high-functioning, can learn, think critically, get themselves up in the morning and work and go to school. Then I would see them as an autonomous individual who can make their own decisions. I think that's the more humanist route.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 10, 2023 10:32 PM |
According to people on here. People with autism who aren't intellectually disabled, can go to college, drive and work a job, should not be held accountable for their bad behavior. I bet it's the same crowd that thinks anyone under 25 should not be held accountable because the brain is not fully developed. This is not helping anybody as much you think it is.

by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 30, 2023 10:22 PM |
High functioning autistics can’t understand normal people and society , that is a huge symptom of the condition. They live in fantasy land and will rage at those who don’t respond like they expected. These aspies usually secretly find a fault with everyone, especially those who reject their crazy annoying ways . Brian did this out of revenge against the women who rejected him. They are dangerous people! They are not fully human

R52 that made me laugh too. I had to teach myself across decades to make eye contact with people for more than one second. It still makes me horribly uncomfortable. The only times I've ever stared at someone are in disbelief when they do something so staggeringly cruel or nasty or gross that I can't believe it's happening in front of my own eyeballs, which is how most people react in the same scenario.
